Members of the Rotary community help make clubs stronger, communities better, and peace possible. Thank them for their dedication and valuable contributions by recognizing them with one of these Rotary International or non-contribution-based Rotary Foundation awards.
Recognize a Club
Significant Service Award
Criteria: Recognizes Rotary and Rotaract clubs for projects that made an impact and gives district recognition to club activities that address a significant problem or need.
Interact Awards
Criteria: Show how your members are taking action across the globe, in your community, and in yourselves through service-learning. Start your service-learning journey by completing our service-learning course then share your experience in the 2021 Interact Awards. Submit your nomination for a chance to be named “Best Video,” “Best Photo,” or “Best Essay” and receive funds to support your Interact club’s next project.
Rotaract Outstanding Project Awards
Criteria: Recognizes Rotaract clubs that are making a sustainable impact in one of Rotary’s areas of focus through their innovative community or international service projects.
Recognize Individual Rotarians
Membership Society
Criteria: Rotary recognizes those members who have expanded Rotary’s reach by sponsoring 25 or more new members.
Sponsor Recognition
Criteria: D5100 is looking for ideas to reward members who sponsor new members. Please email ideas to the Awards Committee at the addresses listed at the bottom of this sheet.
Avenues of Service Award (District)
Criteria: With an award from their district, clubs can honor a Rotarian or Rotaractor who participates in service activities in one of the five Avenues of Service — club, vocational, community, international, and youth service.
Avenues of Service Award (RI)
Criteria: Districts can nominate a member who has performed service in all five Avenues of Service for an award from Rotary International.
Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service
Criteria: Honors Rotarians and Rotaractors who have been actively involved in service related to The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award
Criteria: Honors individual Rotarians and Rotaractors who have demonstrated exemplary service to the Foundation and have received the Citation for Meritorious Service at least four years prior.
Rotary Foundation District Service Award
Criteria: Honors Rotarians and Rotaractors who are making a difference through the Foundation’s programs.
Service Above Self Award
Criteria: The Service Above Self Award is considered the highest honor that RI can bestow on a member. It recognizes up to 150 outstanding Rotarians and Rotaractors worldwide each year whose service activities make an impact on humanity. No more than one recipient is selected from a given district each year, and a person can receive the award only once.
Past District Governor Denny J. Purkey Distinguished Service Award
Criteria: Honors a Rotarian who has demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service with emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through the use of their time and energy.
Dick Elixman Award of Innovation
Criteria: This award recognizes Rotary Clubs in District 5100 and/or Rotarians who are active members in good standing (including partners and spouses of Rotarians), who have successfully implemented a project, program or activity in one of the Seven Areas of Focus that resonates with Dick’s commitment to Service Above Self and that makes an innovative and impactful change in a program, project or solution to a community need. The geographic scope can be local, regional or international.
Rotary Alumni Global Service Award
Criteria:The Rotary Alumni Global Service Award recognizes one outstanding Rotary alumnus or alumna worldwide each year whose career, activities, and service to humanity illustrate the impact of Rotary’s programs.
Recognize Non-Rotarians
Rotary Award for Excellence in Service to Humanity
Criteria: Recognizes up to 150 non-Rotarians, including partners and spouses of Rotarians, who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service in accord with Rotary’s ideals.
