Join club officers, chairs, and emerging leaders and learn more about what Rotary has to offer. We do this by offering different training tracks — so you can pick and choose which topics you want to learn more about. Stick with one track or get a taste of more than one. Sessions

PE’s (2020-21 Presidents)

Session 1 – Public Speaking – Develop and improve upon public speaking skills and practice public speaking techniques.

Session 2 – Leadership – Identify key characteristics of leaders and apply leadership skills to your role as club president.

Session 3 – Case Studies and Club Goals – Identify challenges that a club president may face, practice strategies for problem-solving, learn how to work with your board to set goals and discuss strategies for implementing them.

Session 4 – District Business – Vote on district dues; approve the budget for the upcoming year, conduct other district business.

President Elect Nominees (2021-22 Presidents)

Session 1 – Concerns and Teamwork – 5 functions of an effective team

Session 2 – Supporting Clubs and Building Trust – What is it that the District can do to support you during your year as President of your Rotary Club

All attendees

Session 3 – Online with DACdb, RCC and REEL – Online practicum (requires you bring your laptop/tablet) to access & update your Rotary information in the District And Club database, explore other club & district links in DACdb, learn/review resources in Rotary Club Central, and become familiar with Rotary Essential Enrichment Learning courses.

Session 4 – Vocational Service Learn how to serve others by using your unique skills to address community needs; empower others through training & skill development; inspire others to act with integrity by following Rotary’s guiding principles.

Secretaries

Session 1 – New Secretaries: What is the Role of the Secretary? – DACdb basics: determining security levels, adding/deleting members, editing club positions, attendance , RI interface. *Participants will need to bring a laptop or tablet. The instructor will contact them before Apr. 4th to ensure they have the appropriate level of access to be able to follow along online.

Session 2 – New Secretaries – Goals: Maintain membership roster and club records – Required reporting – monthly attendance, yearly club positions. *Participants will need to bring a laptop or tablet. The instructor will contact them before Apr. 4th to ensure they have the appropriate level of access to be able to follow along online.

Session 3 – Experienced Secretaries – What is the role of secretary? How can secretaries help improve club operations? Beyond the basics: linking club and district committees, PMail, posting events on the calendar, ezStories, and more. *Participants will need to bring a laptop or tablet. The instructor will contact them before Apr. 4th to ensure they have the appropriate level of access to be able to follow along online.

Session 4 – Experienced Secretaries – Brief overview of Rotary International site – club management Q & A period, sharing practical tips. *Participants will need to bring a laptop or tablet. The instructor will contact them before Apr. 4th to ensure they have the appropriate level of access to be able to follow along online.

Treasurers

Session 1 – Your Role – Understand your responsibilities as a treasurer and know how to create a budget for your club/foundation.

Session 2 – Developing Goals – Develop goals that support your club’s strategic plan and identify resources to achieve these goals.

Session 3 – Case Studies – Identify challenges that a club/foundation treasurer may face and practice strategies for problem-solving.

Community Service Chair

Session 1 – Your Role Learn about your role as club service chair and how you can be a catalyst to help your club stay engaged and connected.

Session 2 – Developing Goals – Develop committee goals that align your club’s strategic plan and identify resources to achieve these goals.

Session 3 – Peer Learning – Share what is working in your club and learn from others. Explore new ideas and approaches to engaging and supporting members and club goals.

Session 4 – Club Goals – Learn together how to identify and tackle challenges that may arise by working through case studies with folks from other clubs. 

Membership Chair

Session 1 – Strategies for Attracting New Members – Learn how to attract prospective members and update the experience your club offers. By doing this, you’ll captivate new members while having fun as a club.

Session 2 – Kick Start Your New Member Orientation – What types of orientation program(s) are used?  Who is the best mentor for a new member?  What are ways to engage new members?

Session 3 – Best Practices for Engaging Members – Think about reasons why members might leave your club and Rotary. Examples and changes that were made.  How can clubs better involve members who avoid projects, activities and leadership roles? 

Session 4 – Practicing Flexibility and Innovation – Learn about assets and resources available from Rotary International to guide clubs in utilizing flexibility and innovation in forming new clubs. Explore the possibilities.

Public Image Chair

Session 1 – What is the Role of the Public Image Chair – Learn what it takes to be an effective Public Image chair and how you can evaluate your club’s own Public Image efforts.

Session 2 – Developing Goals for your Public Image Committee – Learn to develop goals that will support your club’s strategic plan and what Public Image resources are available from Rotary International to help achieve these goals.

Session 3 – Using Public Image to Achieve Your Club’s Membership Goals – Making Rotary more visible in our communities to educate non-members about the good work we do is not only a priority ~ it’s a great opportunity to recruit new members at the same time! Discover how Membership and Public Image work side by side to strengthen your club.

Session 4 – How to Overcome Club Public Image Challenges – Learn the challenges that a club Public Image committee may face and practice strategies for solving them.

The Rotary Foundation & Fundraising

Session 1 – The Rotary Foundation Simplified – Learn the basics of TRF

Session 2 – Resources for the Foundation Chair and Members – What TRF Chairs need to know:  Reports, Forms, Points, & Resources

Session 3 – Polio Plus An update on current status and initiatives to eradicate Polio. – Ways your club can support.

Session 4 – TRF for Newer Rotarians – An overview of The Rotary Foundation – what is it and why do we donate?

The Rotary Foundation & District Grants

Session 1 – District Grant Qualification and Stewardship – Required training for all clubs wanting to apply for a District Grant in 2020-2021

Session 2 – District Grant Workshop – Hands on information, DACdb application instructions and DG reporting requirements

Global Grants/Int’l Service

Session 1 – Finding an International Partner – Hear from others who have found partners and built relationships for successful Global Grants

Session 2 – Preparing a Community Assessment – An interactive session. Learn how to engage local community, do some simple helpful assessments and reports. A Community Assessment is required for all Global Grants.

Session 3 – Global Grant Workshop (intermediate to advanced) – Tips, tricks, insights, sharing of latest methods and resources for GG projects and scaled up programs. How to make them better, more sustainable. Partnering with regional NGOs. Including monitoring, evaluation, retraining or any GG topic you wish.

Session 4 – Global Grants Qualification and Stewardship – Required training for all clubs wanting to apply for Global Grants in 2020-2021

Learn about opportunities and steps to elevate your Rotaract experience through leadership, international travel, and the Rotary network. 

Session 3 – Rotaract 3 of 4 – Utilizing Rotaract Resources: DACdb vs. My Rotary and Understanding Club Officer Roles – What are the differences between DACdb vs. My Rotary? Deepen your understanding of various club officer roles and learn how to utilize resources and databases available to Rotaractors.
